Land of Snows
Venerable, can you tell me what it is that you’ve done
why would you want to come back to this world we’re on?
There’s nothing like seeing old friends in their brand new faces,
sometimes that’s the way life is supposed to be
There’s nothing like hearing familiar blessings in their brand new voices,
sometimes that’s the way life is supposed to go
So, until we solve these mysteries be with me in my land of snows
Venerable, can you tell me why I can never wear the maroon robe
why is it that I can never be an “Ocean of Wisdom”
Why would you want to be ordained when you could live your life as a saint,
sometimes that’s the way life is supposed to be
Why would you want to lead yourself to water when you could stay behind and quench the thirst of others,
sometimes that’s the way life is suppose to go
So, until we solve these mysteries think of me in my land of snows.
Venerable, can you tell me how you can speak in your native tongue
and yet not have any homeland to speak of?
There is a home for me in Dharmsala and my heart is there with the Dalai Lama
sometimes that’s the way life is supposed to be,
You can pray for me while in Lhasa that next year we will meet at the Potala
and sometimes that’s the way life is supposed to go
So, until we solve these mysteries be with me in my land of snows.
